There is something profoundly personal about a shamanic drum that has been made specifically for its owner. From the materials and natural hide to the frame, bindings, handle and finishing details, each choice contributes to the individual character of your drum.
Use the drop down menus at the bottom of this page to configure your bespoke drum. We do not insert crystals or feathers, we believe this should be your personal choice and added by yourself when the time feels right if you wish to later ornate your drum further.
Yes you will receive a beater.
Natural materials vary, so your finished drum will be unique. Hide colour, markings, grain and other natural characteristics will differ from example photographs. We believe these variations are an important part of the beauty and individuality of a handmade shamanic drum.
Please allow approximately 6–8 weeks for your custom shamanic drum to be made before dispatch. Each drum is individually created to order rather than taken from existing stock.
As your drum takes form in the hands of the maker, separate natural materials slowly become one instrument. Once completed, its first rhythms begin another part of the journey — the relationship between drum and drummer. Over time, your drum may become part of your meditation, ceremonies, shamanic journeys, moon rituals, sound work, healing practice or quiet moments of personal reflection. It may accompany you outdoors, around the fire, into sacred space or simply into those moments when you need to reconnect with yourself.
A truly handmade shamanic drum cannot be rushed. Creating one requires patience, knowledge of natural materials. Our drums are individually made and are NEVER than mass-produced.
Our makers works carefully with the natural character of the materials, preparing and stretching the hide, creating the tension, forming the bindings, constructing the handle and bringing all of the individual elements together. It is a meeting of traditional drum-making skills and individual craftsmanship. Small variations are not flaws to be removed by a production line. They are evidence of the human hands and natural materials involved in creating your drum.
Every knot, marking, texture and subtle variation contributes to its character. This is slow craft. This is intentional craft. This is the creation of something that can remain with you for many years. Nature does not create identical things. Neither do we.
The natural hides used for our shamanic drums can contain beautiful variations in colour, grain, markings and texture. These characteristics mean that even two drums created using the same options will never be identical. The voice of each drum can also have its own personality.
Temperature, humidity, drum size, hide and tension can all influence the way a natural-hide drum responds and sounds. These living variations are part of the beauty of owning an authentic handmade drum.
There is no requirement for your practice to look like anyone else's. The drum is a tool. The relationship you create with it is personal.
