No drum? No problem — we provide a wide selection of shamanic drums for you to play

What to Expect at Our Drum Circles

Although each month carries a slightly different theme, one thing is certain:
you’ll leave feeling energised, uplifted, and smiling.

Our drum circle sessions last approximately two hours (sometimes longer).
There’s no clock-watching — we allow the rhythm to guide the experience naturally.

Each workshop usually unfolds in two or three parts, depending on the flow.

Part One: Drumming Meditation & Sound Journey

We begin with a drumming meditation — no meditation experience is needed.
This is a gentle, accessible, and deeply relaxing introduction to drum-based sound healing.

Bring a yoga mat, blanket, & cushion. We lie down, get comfortable, close our eyes, take a few deep breaths while the drums are played for you in a sound-bath style experience — using shamanic drums and other sounds combined.

You’ll hear & feel the deep rhythms of Mother Powwow drums, along with other subtle sounds that guide you on a sound journey and help you connect with the spirit of the drum.

Some people find this deeply relaxing; others experience vivid inner journeys or meditative states. At times the journey may be gently guided, and at other times the drums are left to speak for themselves.

at the end of this section, we take time to gently return, stretch, enjoy a cup of tea, and connect, while the space is prepared for the next phase.

Part Two: Shamanic Drum Circle & Collective Rhythm

This is where the drumming truly comes alive.

Part two is centred around shamanic drumming and collective rhythm. We use a wide variety of drum sizes and tones and welcome all types of drums if you wish to bring your own such as djembes, cajóns, and other hand percussion.

If you don’t own a drum, you’re welcome to use one of our shamanic frame drums.
We also incorporate shakers, rattles, African and Cuban percussion, and occasionally instruments such as the balafon or Afrian DunDun drums.

Our drum circles are not formal lessons — there are no patterns to memorise and no prior experience required. This is not about technical skills. it is aboutthe groove, connection, and expression.

We stand in a circle drumming together, improvising rhythms, adding fills, changing tempo, playing softly and loudly, responding to the energy of the moment.
People often move, dance, chant, or simply let the rhythm carry them.

This collective drumming usually lasts 45 minutes to 1Hr.

Part Three: Mother Drum Experience

When included, the final part of the session is a powerful and grounding experience.

We gather around the large Mother Powwow drum, playing together with no other percussion — just the deep, resonant heartbeat of the drum.

Our 1.4-metre-wide Powwow drum can accommodate 8–10 players, creating a shared rhythm that is deeply grounding, meditative, and connecting. Many people describe this as one of the most powerful parts of the experience.

Corporate, Workplace & School Drum Sessions

We also offer corporate drumming sessions, team-building drum circles, and school workshops.  (please see our Schools & corporate page)
